Job summary
The Medical eRostering Specialist will work as a member of the eRostering Team to support the operational implementation of the eRostering systems for the medical workforce across the Trust and subsequent support to maintain and utilise the eRostering systems to the full potential.
The postholder will provide training, support and guidance to the medical workforce and operational colleagues to support best practice rostering, accurate and timely maintenance of the eRostering system and optimal utilisation of the eRostering systems capabilities, to help drive improvements in the planning of our medical workforce deployment and associated processes.
The post-holder will contribute to ensuring that each rostered department is working within its financial budgets, producing safe and compliant rosters that fulfil the demands of the service and reflect staff work patterns as required.
The post-holder will be a subject matter expert for the medical eRostering systems and medical staff rostering principles and processes in general, to facilitate a high-quality implementation and continued support service for the medical workforce and operational colleagues, supporting the Trust to realise the benefits of rostering the medical workforce effectively.

Essential
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent practical experience
Desirable
- Evidence of specialist training in workforce information/analysis/planning. Understanding of other medical Workforce Systems and processes e.g. job planning.
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Demonstrable experience of workforce or finance digital systems including and not limited to ESR, eFinancials, Allocate systems (Medics Optima /HealthRoster suites) i.e. eRota; Safecare etc
- Highly developed and specialist knowledge of Rostering and Rota systems associated with good understanding of HR practice(relating to medical staffing) , policies and procedures.
- Experience of change management associated with new data and information workflows and the development of system KPIs
Desirable
- Demonstrable experience of medical rostering, mapped on call rotas, self-rostering, consultant contracts and junior doctor rota compliance Knowledge of Job Planning requirements.
- Excellent understanding of working regulations and guidelines e.g. EWTD, 2016 Junior Doctor Contract or the Consultant Contract.
