Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic Healthcare worker to join our stroke team as our TIA Coordinator in our friendly Stroke department .
In your role you will be accountable for the overall daily management of the "one stop" TIA clinic, ensuring that local and national guidelines/targets are met, identifying any service shortfalls in meeting these targets then raising these to your line manager, the Clinical Stroke nurse.
Under the supervision of the Clinical Stroke nurse you will be expected to undertake audits, surveys, and data collection to evaluate and improve service delivery and work with the TIA Clinical co-coordinator to review, evaluate and run reports on performance against NICE guidance
Main duties of the job
In your role you will access TIA referrals from, A/E via the stroke nurse and GP's referrals via email daily, ensuring clinic appointment are given within 24hrs from first contact with primary professional, booking patients into the TIA clinics via EPR and ensuring patients are informed, by telephone of their appointment.
You will be responsible for ensuring patients are aware of and understand what is meant by "one stop" clinic i.e. will require to be at the hospital most of the day and may requiring Brain imaging and/or Doppler, bloods, for communicating daily with the Imaging depts. to ensure scans are available and to ascertain slot availability and obtaining the medical records for the clinics and to prep accordingly.
As our TIA Coordinator you will book afternoon follow ups appointment on EPR, act as a chaperone during the clinic sessions to ensure patients are guided and assisted as appropriate between departments and explain process of the clinic and undertake ECG and phlebotomy within the TIA clinic.
