Job summary
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time (7.5 hours a week) Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join the North Thames Regional Cleft Lip and Palate Service based at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford. The North Thames Regional Cleft Service is a twin site service managed from Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust and Broomfield Hospital.
This assistant post offers the opportunity to work within a specialist service in a well-established multi-disciplinary team. You will work within a small team of speech and language therapists and will be responsible for providing all aspects of administrative support to the team e.g. booking clinic appointments, data collection, filing, sending out correspondence and stock taking
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, both written and oral. You will also possess excellent organisation and IT skills and be able to prioritise your workload and meet deadlines. Previous administration experience is desirable for this role although we will provide you with the appropriate support and local training to enable you to undertake your duties.
Main duties of the job
You will be required to support delivery of the clinical service. This includes the making of therapy materials/resources and carrying out audio visual recordings of assessment and therapy sessions. You may also be required from time to time to assist in assessment and therapy sessions under supervision of the speech and language therapists.
You will also support the delivery of speech and language therapy teaching courses, as well as workshops for parents, staff and external professionals.
