Job summary
To provide an effective, efficient personal assistant and secretarial service to clinical staff. Toact as first point of contact for communication with consultants and other medical staff. Toprovide support to the multi-disciplinary team members. To liaise with departments acrossthe Trust, general practitioners, patients, relatives and visitors, resolving queries asappropriate. To undertake office duties as required as part of the multidisciplinary team
Main duties of the job
Prioritise workload and complete within prescribed timescales
Respond promptly and effectively and appropriately to telephone and personal enquiries
Deal with all correspondence appropriately
Accurately and appropriately update and maintain EPR's as required in line with Local and
Trust Policies.
Maintain effective communication (verbal/written) with consultants, G.P.'s, patients etc.
Give guidance and support to new and temporary secretaries when required, acting as a Trainer / Coach / Mentor as appropriate.

To provide a full secretarial service to the Clinician/s, including audio typing/transcription or processing of clinical letters (some of a distressing nature), reports and other relevant clinical records, ensuring that quality standards are met.
To ensure that all patient correspondence relating to outpatient clinics and inpatient admissions is produced accurately and sent out to receiving parties within the agreed timescales.
To act as the first point of contact for users of the Trust, dealing with telephone calls and enquiries promptly and efficiently, providing immediate response and referring as necessary. These will include personal enquiries from patients and their relatives, as well as calls from GPs, clinicians, students, nursing and administrative staff, at all times understanding the sensitive nature of calls.
