Job summary
We are seeking a dedicated Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Nurse with recent acute hospital experience, committed to enhancing safety for patients and staff.
This role offers the opportunity to expand your skills while contributing to a small, dynamic team with a significant presence within the Trust.
As a vital member of our team, you will play a key role in preventing healthcare-associated infections and ensuring compliance with the Health & Social Care Act 2008, particularly the Code of Practice on infection prevention and control.
You will be responsible for the delivery of a comprehensive Infection Prevention & Control programme. This includes providing specialist advice, managing outbreaks, conducting post-infection reviews, overseeing surveillance, and delivering education and project management initiatives. Your work will be instrumental in improving patient care, supporting staff, and ensuring a safe and clean environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
This challenging yet rewarding role encompasses all aspects of infection prevention and control, offering specialist support, advice, and expertise across the organisation. You will be supported by the Director of Infection Prevention & Control and the Lead Nurse for Infection Prevention & Control to ensure that we deliver the highest standard of service for our patients and staff.
Main duties of the job
In this role, you will:
- Provide specialist advice and expertise to support the prevention, surveillance, and control of infection across services.
- Contribute to the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of a high-quality, proactive, responsive, and accessible infection prevention and control service.
- Deliver training and education to raise awareness of IPC issues among all disciplines and grades of staff within the Trust.
- Contribute to the Annual Infection Prevention and Control work program on behalf of the Infection Prevention & Control Team (IPCT).
- Create and lead quality improvement projects across a wide range of settings to support best evidence-based practices.
