Job summary
You will have the responsibility within MSE trust, to provide advice and treatment for patients over the age of 50 that are identified as at risk of fragility fracture and osteoporosis.
This includes the identification, assessment including use of FRAX, DXA and blood investigations, monitoring and management of this group of patients. Ensuring good communication between primary and secondary care.
Increasing awareness and training for both patients and staff in reducing the risk further fracture. Maintain the RCP Fragility fracture database.
NB: This post will initially be based at Southend Hospital for training. Upon completion of competencies, post holders will be working at Basildon and Broomfield hospitals.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will assist in the day-to-day running of the Fracture Liaison Service, in the development and implementation of pathways for patients who have a fragility fracture.
- Identify patient from the daily trauma meetings, TAC and ward patients.
- Act as a resource and provide advice, information and support with caring of these patients.
- Conduct own nurse-led outpatient clinics, working autonomously without direct supervision.
- Ability to discuss complex cases with the clinical lead for FLS
- Maintain the RCP fragility fracture database
