Job summary
We are looking for an experienced nurse to join our Harm Free Care team as our new Associate Falls Improvement Specialist Practitioner.
If successful, you will work closely with our Falls Improvement Specialist Practitioner to provide specialist advice to patients, act as a role model to staff and help ensure we provide and maintain the highest possible standard of care to patients requiring specialist support.
You will train, guide and supervise general registered nurses/midwives, allied healthcare professional, patients, carers and relatives, in hospital and in the community, to help improve our patients' quality of life and increase the level of safety across all areas of care.
As part of the Falls Improvement Service and in partnership with key stakeholders, you will support the specific patient group and empower nursing staff in clinical practice, developing expertise in managing patients at risk of falls and possible injury. This will be facilitated by the development of competencies, education and clinical support.

Main duties of the job
- Communicate effectively with patients staff and visitors in order to minimise the risk of inpatient falls.
- Provide specialist information and advice to staff, patients and relatives.
- To participate and review evidence based practice, policies and standards/guidelines.
- Assist in quality improvement initiatives and audit and monitor trends and thematics in falls.
- To assess and respond to the multifactorial nature of falls, identifying any clinical relevance and advise accordingly to support safe and effective care delivery.
- Be able to use professional judgement to recognise and respond to poor practice, thereby promoting high standards of practice through leadership, education and training.
- Participate in training and falls teaching.
