Job summary
Broomfield Hospital Pharmacy Department is currently looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and forward-thinking Band 3 Dispensary Pharmacy Assistant to join their busy department. You will assist in the provision of Pharmacy Services to all wards and departments within the Trust, and any external Trusts where appropriate. Based in the busy town of Chelmsford, Mid Essex Hospital is part of Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust and the pharmacy department now has around 300 staff working across 3 sites. Although only recently merged, the pharmacy departments across the three sites have been working together under one Chief Pharmacist for a number of years. During this time we have developed standardised systems and re-designed new and on-going services supporting the wider organisation's clinical configuration changes
Main duties of the job
You will assist in the provision of Pharmacy Services to all wards and departments within the Trust, and any external Trusts where appropriate. They will be working as part of the Dispensary team to provide an effective Pharmacy service in both the in-patient dispensary and out-patient dispensary.
Pharmacy experience is desirable but not essential.

To accurately dispense medicines for in-patients, either at ward level or in the dispensary.
Working in the outpatient dispensary to undertake the dispensing of medicines and sell over the counter medicines upon training.
To undertake the collection of prescription charges and the provision of advice on medicines usage to patients and carers, where appropriate.
To contribute to efficient computer stock control and ordering in all areas and to ensure that stock rotation procedures are followed, expired medicines are identified and pharmaceutical items returned to the department are dealt with according to procedures at all times.This job profile is not a definitive or exhaustive list of responsibilities but identifies the key responsibilities and tasks of the post holder.
