We are recruiting 2 Band 5 Radiographers to join our Southend Hospital site.
At MSE we truly understand that Radiotherapy is an evolving field of work where technology & radiotherapy techniques are continuously advancing. Southend Hospital have 4 Elekta linear accelerators including Versa HD which enhances our ability to provide high quality Radiotherapy and facilitate the delivery of Stereotactic treatment. All machines are utilised to deliver VMAT/IMRT with XVI imaging. Having the best equipment and tools will help you deliver excellent patient care every day.
Our scheduled Linac replacement within the next 6 months will see a new Linac bunker housing a Varian Ethos enhancing our ability to deliver adaptive treatment.
As a Band 5 Radiographer you'll be a pivotal member of the team rotating through the treatment units, brachytherapy, pre-treatment checking and CT.
We love to invest in our people therefore we provide an excellent preceptorship scheme alongside a comprehensive induction. On-going support will be provided to help you develop the right skill-set & competencies in which are required for you to progress into a Band 6 Radiographer.
We welcome applications from 3rd year student radiographers who are graduating in summer 2024.
Main duties of the job
To participate in the day-to-day operation of the treatment units, brachytherapy unit, pre-treatment checking and CT on a rotational basis and to perform duties as required.
To provide information and support for all patients and their carers and demonstrate empathy and compassion.
To assist with student training and to maintain standards of work at all times.
To assist in the daily organisation and running of the relevant unit and maintain an appropriate level of competence in each area.
To maintain professional and technical standards of work within the department.
To undertake regular checking of treatment sheets, calculations and treatment plans to ensure that the prescription is carried out accurately.
Ensure that all patients receive accurate information and documentation relating to their treatment, potential side-effects and management of side-effects prior to the onset of treatment.
