Job summary
Basildon Hospital (MSE) Speech & Language Therapy service has long held an excellent reputation in the management of patients with Dysphonia (Voice Disorder). We work very closely with our ENT colleagues, including joint assessment clinics, currently ad hoc. We have a weekly SALT-led EELS (Endoscopic Examination of Larynx) clinic, to further support assessment and management of patients with more complex or intractible voice disorders. Patients are also referred to our team for second opinion/additional therapy where their Dysphonia has not been successfully rehabilitated.
The Dysphonia service is also supported by a part-time band 6, who is currently developing her clinical skill set for the assessment and management of dysphonia, and for whom this role will provide the clinical supervision and support she needs as she continues in post.
Whilst the role is primarily with out-patients on both Basildon and Orsett sites, when you are working with a child, you may be required to do school or colleage visits. You may also be required to do joint assessments with an ENT Consultant or present a patient to the wider MDT, where management decisions may vary.
If you are interested in the role and believe you hold the qualities we require, then apply today!
Main duties of the job

This may include assessment/management of swallowing disorders or other speech/language impairments where this is identified by the therapist and relevant to that patients management.

Contribute to multidisciplinary support for clients, where relevant
Provide feedback, advice and training to relatives, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team regarding communication/swallowing needs and strategies to facilitate remediation/management.
