Staff Nurse - Day Surgery Unit

Job summary

We are recruiting enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Staff Nurses to join our Day Stay Unit (DSU) and Theatre Admission and Day Stay Unit (TADSU).

DSU undertakes a surgical pathway for patients undergoing an elective procedure who are admitted, operated upon, and discharged on the same day.

TADSU undertakes a surgical pathway for patients undergoing an elective procedure who are admitted, operated upon, and discharged on the same day and an inpatient pathway.

They work together in order to provide safe and effective care to our patients across specialities including urology, vascular, breast, general, gynaecology, max fax, ENT, orthopaedic, plastic, ophthalmology and pain clinic.

The successful candidates will be expected to complete Band 5 day surgery ward based competencies relevant to the surgical patient pathway.

The successful candidates may have the opportunity if allocated to DSU, to undertake both ward and Theatre competencies.

We are proactive in offering training and educational development which includes Preceptorship for newly qualified Nurses and ongoing training opportunities for all our staff.

A willingness to work across the areas is essential .

Main duties of the job

If successful you, some of your duties will include:

  • Nurse led admission and discharge providing holistic patient care.
  • Working as part of a team with good communication skills liaising with multiple departments.
  • Flexibility is essential to ensure the safe delivery of this service.
