Job summary
We are looking for a Housekeeper to join our team at Broomfield Hospital on a permanent full-time basis.
You will work as an integral part of the ward team and will be responsible for the co-ordination of all patient facilities/services in the ward and for ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment.
The main elements of the role are ensuring the delivery of cleaning and minor maintenance, together with other specified tasks to meet individual patient needs, as determined by the ward sister/charge nurse.
You will be required to work closely with contractors and support services departments and will monitor quality standards and rectify deficiencies.
Main duties of the job
Receive daily handover from nursing staff to direct role requirements for that day, as appropriate, hand over this information to domestic staff.
Ensure oxygen and suction is by each bed is clean and in good working order on a daily basis.
Ensure ward store is tidy and equipment stored correctly, liaise with the nurse in charge to adjust stock levels.
At the nurse's request, assist nursing staff in the ordering and disposal of equipment.
Report any broken or faulty equipment to the nurse in charge and arrange it repair.
Formulate a regular cleaning programme of all chairs, trolleys, drip stands, equipment etc, evidenced in fortnightly environment Audit.
Report to the Domestic Service, Hotel services or nurse in charge, as appropriate, any areas, which require cleaning or fall below, expected service.
Participate in Audits and all Trust initiatives, as requested by Ward Manager / Matron.
Represent ward, in conjunction with nursing staff, at the essence of care committee, or any other forum, which relates to enhancing the patient experience, at the request of the Ward Manager / Matron.
Always Ensure compliance with all trust policies/ procedures and confidentiality.
Any other appropriate duty, which is consistent with the Band.
