The Healthcare Analytics department within Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Data Warehouse Developer to join the Data Warehouse and Data Engineering Team(DW&DE).
This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual who has experience in a similar role and and wants to join a highly progressive team with ample opportunities to learn and grow.
You will have experience of managing multiple data warehouses and to manage the support, maintenance and development of the group and site data warehouses and associated feeds and ETL processes. Excellent technical knowledge across both on-premise and Cloud based technologies is a key requirement alongside proven management skills.
You will provide Business as Usual management support to the data warehouse team as well as representing the team in all BAU related projects . The role is currently available as remote working only subject to the post holder having suitable work space.
Main duties of the job
The Data Warehousing and Data Engineering function is responsible for the implementation, maintenance and on-going development of the on-premises trust data warehouses and Cloud based group data warehouse including the development of new data feeds to support new projects. Main duties include:
- Analyse highly detailed and complex information methodically to ensure clarity, especially in situations with no precedent and varying contentious opinions.
- Act as an enabler to the team to ensure all system failures are resolved or escalated in a timely manner and all interested parties are kept informed as to progress.
- Assist the Head of department in developing effective data management strategies and processes meet with the overarching Data Strategy and organisational and service delivery objectives.

The Healthcare Analytics department is part of the Planning and Performance Directorate. The department is responsible for providing an effective analytics service to the Trust and is split into three main functions:
- Analysis & Reporting
- Data Warehousing and Data Engineering
- Commissioning Information
Each of the three functions is led by a MSE Head of service.
The Data Warehousing and Data Engineering function is responsible for the implementation, maintenance and on-going development of the on-premises trust data warehouses and our Azure SQLMI group data warehouse including the development of new data feeds, troubleshooting and maintenance. The Data Engineering function is responsible for the development, build, testing and maintenance of Power BI data models. These products include forecasting, bench-marking, alerts, and triggers to inform users and prompt actions.
As the Deputy Head of Data Warehousing & Data Engineering (BAU) the role will provide expertise and leadership to the data warehouse team for its BAU activities, releasing other senior staff to work on the UEPR project. The role will support the team to maintain and develop the group and site data warehouses and associated feeds and ETL processes. This includes managing critical BAU projects such as system implementations and changes to data feeds due to upgrades to Medway and Lorenzo. The post holder will provide expertise to support staff in troubleshooting whilst engaging with stakeholders at all levels to understand business needs, provide expert knowledge and specialist analytical advice.
The post holder represents the Healthcare Analytics department in internal and external meetings at a senior level providing technical expertise and offering advice and guidance.
