Job summary
We are looking for a Band 5 nurse with cardiac experience who is looking to progress to Band 6 Charge Nurse on Roding Ward, Cardiology/Cardiac HDU at the Essex Cardiothoracic Center Basildon Hospital.
Noted to be one of the busiest Heart Attack Centre's in the country, the 24/7 service admits patients from across the Essex and Suffolk region with acute myocardial infarction for primary angioplasty and is a Cardiac Arrest Centre.
The ward also provides direct care for patients with a variety of electrophysiology conditions and provides an emergency cardiac pacing service.

Main duties of the job
Your role will be rostered to either provide provide direct patient care, provide shift/nurse in charge coordination or manage referrals via the Essex heart attack service. You will also support the Ward Manager/Senior Sister with the management of the ward and staff. You will manage patients in the high dependency unit where cardiac support is provided to include non invasive ventilation and management of cardiogenic shock with intra-aortic balloon pump. Alongside this the ward also manages the care of patients admitted electively for Angioplasty and Electrophysiology procedures such as Ablation and device implantation. The Essex Cardiothoracic Centre is involved in a number of innovative research projects.

The ward is committed to ensuring nurses are trained to a high level and you will therefore be working alongside the dedicated Practice Educator.
