Job summary
A Consultant Radiographer role provides a specialist high-quality Mammography imaging service for the Mammography service, operating at the equivalent level to the Consultant Radiologist.
Dedicated sessions for all the clinical elements of Advanced Practice will be timetabled, including [report writing; reading; screening; biopsies, supporting research within the unit]. The post-holder will also contribute to an aspect of the management of the Mammography service, i.e. clinical governance, audit, training & development, day to day management of the services and junior staff.
The post-holder will possess a post-graduate qualification in the area of expertise at Masters or equivalent,
Main duties of the job
All advanced practice is to be undertaken with appropriate mentor support, according to local departmental protocols, this may include clinical examination alongside image acquisition. The post-holder will actively contribute to MDTs and consultant meetings in addition to providing support and training to advanced practitioners.
Participation in all clinic types is essential and regular participation in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings is a requirement of the post. The role includes acting as an information resource for all users of the service and visitors to the unit.
A Quality Assurance program is in operation, the post-holder is expected to monitor and maintain standards and improve upon targets where possible.
They will support the Director of Screening, General Manager, Clinical Lead and Deputy Director of Operations in developing the service in line with best practise and national standards.
