We're committed to delivering outstanding maternity care across MSE and have invested heavily in our obstetric workforce; including recruitment of obstetric consultants with an interest in maternal medicine, development of our maternal medicine pathways and contribution to the regional network.
To take our service to the next level we're looking to recruit a consultant obstetric physician. This is an exciting opportunity to work with our medical team in your specialty and the obstetric team to deliver outstanding medical care to both pregnant and non-pregnant patients.
This new role will involve bringing medical and obstetric colleagues together to develop new pathways as well as contributing to the regional maternal medicine network.
In addition to the strategic work within the regional maternal medicine network, we also have strategic links with Anglia Ruskin University their new medical school and are actively looking to expand our research portfolio. The successful applicant will also be expected to contribute to teaching and training both within the obstetric and medical directorates.
The clinical duties of this post include multi-disciplinary antenatal and post-natal maternal medicine clinics, pre-conception clinic and advice for women with medical problems and input into admitted obstetric patients with maternal medicine problems. This is in addition to medical outpatient clinics in line with your specialty and contributing to the general medical on-call rota.
Main duties of the job
You will be an outstanding clinician committed to fantastic clinical care with a passion for obstetric medicine and be capable of inspiring those around them.
Working as a consultant in Obstetric Medicine will include the care of pregnant women with medical problems in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. This will involve, pre-conception care, multi-disciplinary antenatal and postnatal clinics, rapid accessservice for pregnant women with medical problems and management of maternal medicine inpatients.
You will coordinate a mechanism to provide advice to other physicians, obstetricians, general practitioners and other health care professionals through the maternal medicine network.
Working alongside the MSE Maternal Medicine team and the MSE medical specialties, you will develop specialist clinics and care pathways for pregnant patients within MSE. You will also work with our regional network partners in Cambridge and London to develop clear tertiary referral pathways.
You'll contribute to leadership of the Maternal Medicine Service, with attendance at relevant MDTs and the MSE steering group. Working across the MSE to deliver service change and quality improvement.
For the 0.5 WTE element of the role within Specialist Medicine, the successful candidate can be provided with duties within Acute Medicine, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Cardiology and Respiratory Medicine.
