Job summary

We are looking for an experienced, forward-thinking, supportive and friendly Paediatric Physiotherapist to work within and help develop the Children's Therapy Service based at Southend University hospital.

You will be part of a well led, dynamic and friendly MSE wide team consisting of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistants, who constantly strive for integrated working - optimising patient care and team morale. The team works together to achieve both positive patient experience and successful outcomes.

Our ideal candidate will have a passion for Physiotherapy and a desire to actively participate in all aspects of the role. They will lead the outpatient team, work and training within this exciting area of physiotherapy but also support MDT clinics and inpatients. The successful candidate must be an effective team player with excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to demonstrate evidence of recent professional learning.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of the musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and rheumatology aspect of the paediatric physiotherapy service within the acute hospital sites of Mid and South Essex NHS Trusts, but based at Southend University Hospital. This includes both inpatients, outpatients and potentially supporting work in clinics.

The role will use highly specialist skills to manage their own complex caseload, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team. They will act as a specialist resource for colleagues and the wider MDT in the management of children with musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and / or rheumatological conditions.

The post holder will be responsible for providing advanced assessment and treatment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, providing a clinical diagnosis where appropriate. They will develop individualised physiotherapy treatment programmes, while maintaining records as an autonomous practitioner.

The post holder will work as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, working closely alongside families, other allied health professionals, Consultants and nursing teams, to provide evidence-based care.
