Job summary
A fantastic opportunity has arisen on Elizabeth Loury Ward. We are looking for an individual with strong and professional leadership qualities to apply for a Fixed Term Contract for 1 year as the Deputy Ward Manager position on the Ward. This will be for 37.5hrs per week.
Strong, professional leadership qualities are needed at this level. It is critical to the quality of care, staff morale and the learning environment.
Systemic anti-cancer treatment (SACT) is administered on Elizabeth Loury Ward and the successful candidate will be expected to undertake this training.
Elizabeth Loury thrives on excellent teamwork and our team are all friendly supportive and all approachable. We build excellent rapports with our patients and relatives, of whom return to us many times, throughout their cancer journey.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for Oncology/Palliative care and will need to be willing to undertake training in Systemic Anti-cancer therapy. In return, we as a team will support and help the successful candidate, to pursue an extremely rewarding career in Oncology.
Main duties of the job
In liaison with the Ward manager, lead and co-ordinate a dedicate team of nursing and support staff to ensure the delivery of a high standard of nursing care.
In the absence of the Ward Manager, be responisble for the effective deployment of ward/department resources including manpower
You will adhere to NMC Code of Practice at all times and ensure ward compliance with and application of hospital policies and procedures
Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of governance systems in the ward/department relating to Risk Management, Health and Safety and Controls Assurance.
Elizabeth Loury Ward is a 22 bedded Oncology/Haematology ward that cares for patient's who require specialized nursing care. This includes Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, palliative and symptom control. We provide care and treatment to our patients, from their diagnosis to end of life care. We are supported by an amazing team of Consultants, CNS nurses, dieticians and rehab staff and we all focus on ensuring our patients and their relatives are supported to a very high standard.
