Job summary
We are looking for a band 6 health care professional, nurse, BioMedical Scientist, or pharmacist to join the anticoagulation service across the MSE trust. This service is a nurse lead service.
Your main duties will include anticoagulation care, Deep Vein Thrombosis assessments, and end of treatment reviews.
The candidate should be willing to work within an outpatient's clinic, and community clinics. The role will be based at one site with rotation to other sites for training and cover.
You should have a basic knowledge of anticoagulation care, but training will be given.
Our service is a Monday to Friday service with Saturday cover on a rotational roster.
We are a friendly supportive team and offer opportunities with training for further progression in the team.

Main duties of the job
- To provide anticoagulation advice and support to patients, their families and other healthcare professionals following diagnosis and through the treatment.
- Interpreting ultrasound scans and diagnosis of Deep Vein Thrombosis.
- Initiating treatment after a full assessment of risk and contra indications to treatment
- To set a plan of care for the patient, reflecting the assessment undertaken and incorporating the recommendations made.
- Be responsible for adjusting anticoagulant dosing according to INR - through established protocols, taking into account co-morbidities, other medications, social and other factors which may increase risks of treatment.
- To ensure all care is given in accordance with agreed protocols.
- To be responsible for maintaining a safe clinical environment for patients and staff including; taking precautions to minimise the risk of cross infection and contamination with blood.
- To recognise and accommodate individual cultural needs within available resources. The role is mainly Monday to Friday, once trained you will be expected to participate in the weekend cover for anticoagulation care.
