Job summary

The Department of Trauma and Orthopaedics are looking for an efficient, friendlyPatient Pathway Coordinatortobe based at Basildon Hospital to facilitate the smooth running of the patient journey by ensuring that coordinated and streamlined administrative processes revolves around the patient and their individual needs.

Your role will be to provide administrative support to clinical staff including Consultants, Surgical Care Practitioners and Junior Doctors, ensuring effective co-ordination of outpatient clinics and theatre lists. This will include cancellation and reinstating of clinical duties in line with planned and unplanned leave, booking theatre lists and ensuring a consistent and effective administration service is maintained at all times.

You will support the clinical team, Service Manager and other Divisional managers in ensuring the specialty are able to deliver safe and effective services .

Good telephone communication skills are essential, especially dealing with patients and various members of the multi disciplinary team.

  • Manage admitted and non-admitted waiting lists to ensure targets are maintained and patients are booked in accordance with wait times and clinical priority
  • Utilise computerised tracking systems to monitor and follow-up investigation results.
  • Liaise with teams outside of the speciality e.g GPs where appropriate to ensure seamless patient journey.
