Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust are seeking a Finance Manager to manage the provision of finance and business support to a range of Corporate Services or Operational divisions within the Trust. The focus will be to provide clear strategic financial leadership, delivering robust operational and financial management whilst improving cost effectiveness.

This role will investigate and analyse complex technical issues and provide advice and support to senior managers, directors and executives. All information and advice must comply with statutory regulations and the post holder will be expected to provide interpretations of these where applicable.

Good persuasion and negotiation skills are essential as it will be necessary to present contentious information to large groups of staff in circumstances that may be difficult and challenging.

You will be required to manage teams of staff (with responsibility for promoting ongoing staff development) and liaise with senior staff in external organisations as necessary.

You will be required to travel across MSE including Britannia Park.

Main duties of the job

Duties to include:

Prepare annual revenue budgets which balance with the financial budgets and agree these with the relevant managers and Directors. For proper accountability to exist, it is essential that all budget managers "sign-off" their new year budgets. This will require good persuasion and negotiation skills given that some managers may regard their financial expectations as being unfulfilled.

To provide financial support, including advice and regular reports, to groups and meetings as required, liaising with operational colleagues.

Provide budget holders and service managers with continual support to manage their financial resources effectively, through greater customer engagement and the establishment of effective communication channels.
