Job summary

Are you a dynamic, forward thinking staff nurse, looking for a change in career path, or an experienced dermatology nurse looking to work in a fast moving, evolving dermatology department? Or are you a newly-qualified staff nurse starting your career in the NHS?

An opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic dermatology team. The post will involve taking responsibility for providing and maintaining a high standard of care to patients attending the dermatology department. Our service covers Basildon, Broomfield and Southend hospitals with outreach clinics currently at Canvey Island, North Road, and Leigh on sea.

You will also provide treatments in the Day Treatment unit and assist in minor surgery. There is rotation across sites covering both dermatology theaters and clinics. Experience is not required, as all training will be given.

Main duties of the job

You will working clinics both on the main sites and at satellite locations, and will also assist in surgery. This job will include travelling to all Dermatology sites across the Mid and South Essex area.

You will:

  • Ensure effective communication with patients, relatives and carers.
  • Ensure due regard is given to customs, values and spiritual beliefs of all users of the service.
  • Work with all members of the Dermatology team and other member of the multi disciplinary team to ensure that best practice is provided and maintained.
  • Liaise with appropriate departments to ensure that adequate levels of supplies are maintained.
  • Liaise with all users of the service to facilitate a seamless approach to patient care.
  • Work with clerical staff to ensure efficient effective management of clinics.
  • Report to the Senior Nurse on all aspects of clinical activities, including significant changes affecting provisions of nursing care.
  • You will also deal with enquiries, concerns and complaints from patients and visitors in a courteous timely and relevant manner, informing a senior member of staff when appropriate of actions taken or, when necessary, referring an enquiry to a more appropriate member of staff.
