Job summary
We have exciting opportunities for Nurses with all levels of experience, who have a passion and drive to provide excellent patient care for all children 0-16 and their families, on thePaediatric Assessment Unit. We are the central HUB for ENT and trauma (Plastics and Max fax) co-located within Phoenix in-patient ward. The unit is staffed by an experienced senior nursing team and staff progression is actively encouraged. We have 12 assessment beds, 1 cubicle, a treatment room, a waiting room and a 4 bedded short stay unit.
There is an on-going commitment to enhancing practice and the Unit echoes the Trust's commitment to the training and development of all staff and you will be guided by a mentor as part of the team and a Clinical Facilitator to assist in teaching and support with the care of high dependency patients.
We offer an excellent preceptorship and induction programme plus access to ongoing professional education and development. The wide variety of specialties cared for on Phoenix will be invaluable when considering further career options.
Staff work closely with Children's ED and staff will be expected to cross cover and training includes Trauma Team Member, EPALS, Venepuncture and cannulation, wound management and plaster application.

Main duties of the job
The Registered Nurse (Staff Nurse) is required to:
- To provide a high standard of individualised care to patients, whilst maintaining at all times their privacy and dignity
- To assess care needs, develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care
- To contribute to supporting the senior staff in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care for the children and young people who attend the assessment unit from their initial attendance through to discharge or admission to the ward.
- To support the maintenance of high standards of cleanliness in their own clinical area
