Job summary
Here is an opportunity for you to join our pathology team as a Senior Anatomical Pathology Technician.
You will assist in the supervision of staff and participate in all aspects of work in the Broomfield Mortuary.
You will undertake daily administration and organisation of the work, including all aspects of body handling, receipt and release, post mortem examinations, and viewings. Particular attention must be paid to mortuary hygiene and health and safety responsibilities. Train mortuary staff, porters and other staff entering the mortuary to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.

Main duties of the job
- You will work closely with the Mortuary team in the day-to-day running and planning of the mortuary service in the southwest Essex area.
- To facilitate the autopsies for consultant pathologists, forensic pathologists, and coroner's officers. Liaise with police officers and scenes of crime officers.
- Support the medical staff, nursing staff, other hospital staff, and funeral directors.
- Assist the bereavement team supporting directly with emotional bereaved families and friends, providing comfort and relevant information when required.
- Liaise with tissue donor personnel. Support the trainee APTs with their learning.
- To contribute towards the smooth running of the service and compliance with regulatory standards at all times.
