Job summary

A secondment opportunity has arisen on the Children's Burns Ward for 12 months to cover maternity leave.

As part of your commitments you will be collaborating with the ward manager and other junior sisters in the process of running the ward, appraisals, staff training and interviewing new starters.

The Children's Burns ward is a small, friendly unit consisting of eight beds in total. We provide a high standard of specialised care for children, young people and their families who have sustained burn injuries or experienced significant medical skin loss. We also care for children requiring outpatient burns care in our burns dressings clinics held daily on the ward.

The ward forms part of the St Andrew's Centre for Burns and Plastic Surgery, a world renowned service, promoting an excellent standard of care and professionalism within this specialty.

Main duties of the job

To support the Ward Manager to run the ward on a day to day basis.

To take charge of the ward, delegate the workload, support and teach the team as required.

Engage with new innovations, technology and improvements.

To adapt and to be able to communicate clearly

To engage with all communications sent within the trust and to share knowledge within the team.

To use support available for staff such as Occupational Health, Counselling and wellbeing support.
