Job summary
We are looking to appoint a Senior Charge Nurse/ Sister to our busy Basildon Hospital A&E department.
You will be responsible for the co-ordination of Emergency Care services on a 24-hour basis. He/she is required to have a high clinical profile ensuring the provision of efficient and effective care through the management of available resources.
At this level, the postholder is expected to work as a skilled and senior Emergency Nurse, to have extensive and thorough knowledge of current Accident & Emergency theory and practice.
Main duties of the job
To assist in the planning, co-ordination and management of human, financial and physical resources of Emergency Care services.
To act as the Breach avoidance facilitator over a 24 hr period
To assist in the monitoring of Emergency Care services and all other services in the area.
Supervise, deploy and develop staff. Set tasks and objectives for subordinates and appraise performance.
Undertake Competency Development Review for staff in the team every year
Ensure a high standard in the practice of professional and ancillary staff.
Assist in the development of an Emergency Care service sensitive to the individual needs of patients.
In conjunction with the Lead Nurse, Clinical Service Manager and Lead Emergency Care Doctor develop an appropriate service structure to achieve service objectives.
Identify, monitor and review standards of care and manage a system of nursing audit.
