Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a specialist nurse to join the outpatient Breast Unit at Broomfield Hospital. The position is a permanent part-time post of 28 hours per week. You will be caring for patients who are suspected of having, or have been diagnosed with breast cancer, and being their key worker throughout their treatment

We want to hear from applicants that have a genuine interest in developing their careers within breast speciality and who are passionate about providing a high standard of care to their patients. You will need to be highly patient focused, motivated, flexible and enthusiastic. You will need experience of looking after cancer patients

The department provides care for patients requiring assessment of breast conditions in an outpatient setting.

Main duties of the job

You will provide clinical leadership and expertise in a speciality by providing information, support, advice and specialist knowledge to patients, their families and carers, and to act as a resource to the multi-professional team.

You will participate in the co-ordination of patient care to ensure continuity throughout the patient's care pathway.

To be pivotal in review and development of the service, and to reflect the needs of the patient group.

To demonstrate wide and in-depth experience of all aspects of the speciality, exercising clinical leadership and effective education within their sphere of practice.

To monitor and improve standards of care through clinical audit, leading the development of practice through research.

Carry out clinical procedures (diagnostic and treatment based) within the remit of the specialist role.
