Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about technical services to join our friendly team of pharmacy assistants, technicians and pharmacists to help deliver safe, high-quality medicines to our patients in a timely manner.
You will be a key part of a team responsible for the timely provision of aseptically dispensed products, which include chemotherapy and intravenous additives. You will ensure that products are manufactured in line with operating procedures and that a safe and effective service is provided to its users.
In the absence of the team leader you will be given the opportunity to supervise staff and manage the day to day running of the unit.
If you are a self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills and the desire to learn and develop, then you are the person we are looking for.
You will already be a qualified Registered Pharmacy Technician, a Production technician or currently undertaking the Science Medicine Technician qualification with aseptic experience.
Main duties of the job
Co-ordinate the supply of Chemotherapy to the Chemotherapy day unit ensuring products are supplied in a timely manner.
Provide information to nurses and doctors when required on patient doses and treatments.
Take an active part in monthly team meetings to maintain practice
Take part in a GMP training rota providing a training session for staff within the aseptic unit.
Participate in the compounding of all aseptic preparations.
Complete worksheets, transcribing detailed information from chemocare prescriptions onto worksheets, carrying out of complex calculations.
Undertake transcription, calculation and reconciliation checks on manufacturing documents prior to the use of the document by any grade of staff.
Ensure that all readings and limits are within range and that the unit is maintained and fit for operational use, reporting any deviations to a senior member of staff.
Assisting unit managers with the maintenance of documentation systems including updating and making changes to SOP's and other associated documents.
Action any quality alerts identifying the route cause using different forms of route cause analysis tools.
Assist in the management of stock and consumables and in liaison with the procurement team to help identify any discrepancies and act upon these.
In absence of the unit manager or lead technician manage the day to day activities of the unit.
Assist in the training of junior staff.
