An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Infection Prevention and Control Team at Southend Hospital. This post is to provide day to day support to the site-based Infection Prevention and Control Team.
You must be organised, completing tasks in a timely way and be able to support the Infection Prevention and Control Team in order to meet internal and external deadlines. .
Main duties of the job
The role is to support the Infection Prevention and Control team to deliver a comprehensive Infection Prevention and Control service across Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust.
- Effectively communicate with staff across the Trust and with members of the public/other professionals in external organisations
- Deal effectively with routine and non-routine enquiries
- To participate at weekly team meetings
- Maintenance of office stationery, office supplies and uniforms via online system ordering
- To ensure timely completion of the E-rostering system for the Infection Prevention and Control Team
- To be responsible for IT within the Team

Job responsibilities
To support the Infection Prevention and Control annual work plan.
- Responsible for epidemiological data input and collation including audit data
- Prepare data for inclusion in the Monthly Reports
- Ensure accurate surveillance record keeping, including building, and amending data systems as required.
- Accurate minute taking
- To maintain up to date epidemiological timelines using the Public Health England timeline tool
- Maintain accurate patient records
- Able to work under own initiative in addition to working effectively as part of a team
- Effective time management able to prioritise own workload
- Report alert isolates as mandatorily required by the HCAI Data Capture System and ensure that reporting is up to date, validating against laboratory results ensuring accuracy / inform the MSE Lead Nurse when validation is complete to enable sign off
- Filing, scanning and photocopying documentation as required
- To provide clerical assistance to IPC Team
- Ensure a safe working environment, undertaking work-based risk assessments where required
- Ensure Mandatory training is completed within the team using data from the Learn system
- Support the IPCT with the investigation of complaints, FOIs or litigation against the Trust
