Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic and professional Southbourne Short Stay Unit team at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust.

Southbourne Ward Manager focuses on the delivery of high quality, safe and effective care focused on improving outcomes and experiences for patients, families and carers.

Southbourne Short stay unit aims to facilitate efficient assessment, treatment and discharge of patients who have an expected length of stay of less than 72 hours, while consistently delivering the highest standards of safe care. The patient's hospital stay will be no longer than necessary once the decision to admit has been made.

It is expected that nurses in this role will have continuous responsibility for a defined clinical area and be the key contact member for the multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

You will provide professional leadership and line management for a team of nursing/midwifery and support staff and delegate work and supervise colleagues accordingly. Assess patients, plan, implement and evaluate evidence based care and provide expert clinical advice ensuring patient pathways are optimally managed.

You will manage budgets and resources efficiently and effectively and be responsible for the safety of the clinical environment You will champion a culture of learning and quality improvement in the clinical area whilst ensuring his/her group of patients have a managed pathway and beds in the ward are optimally utilised, seeking expert support if needed.

Essential
