Job summary

We currently looking for a ward clerk to join our friendly Short Stay Ward, Basildon Hospital on a permanent full time basis.

Short Stay Ward offer services all patients and we are under Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trusts.

You will carry out administrative and other mutually agreed duties to maintain the smooth running of the ward.

Main duties of the job

To greet and welcome all persons entering the ward, checking identification of staff requiring access to patient information.

To answer the telephone correctly by adhering to the Trusts telephone protocol. To understand and give messages received to the appropriate person i.e. Ward Manager or nurse in charge.

To maintain good communication and relationships with patients/carers, members of the MDT and nurses in consultation with Ward Manager/ nurse in charge

To Liaise with other wards and departments as required to maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records

To know all aspects of the ward environment

To prepare notes for ward rounds ensuring patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.

Ensure that notes trolley is organised and supplied with necessary forms as well as patient case notes

Booking of transport for patients going home

Keeping EPR / Tele-Tracking up to date
