Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a fixed term contract as a Emergency Nurse Practitioner team to assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate treatment/interventions and care for patients presenting with minor injuries/illness.

You must work within your own professional scope of practice by acknowledging your limitations as an ENP and when appropriate seek senior and specialist advice. This adverts welcomes individuals that would require a trainee post.

You will be dynamic and proactive in pioneering the role of ENP in response to the challenging health care needs and advances in practice.

Support the development and implementation of high quality Emergency Care in the Trust and demonstrate clinical skills and competence to provide care for the patient including initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care.

Demonstrate safe clinical decision making and expert care including assessment and diagnostic skills and work collaboratively within the health care teams to meet clinical needs of the patient supported by pathways of care.

Deliver a professional approach to the provision of high quality nursing interventions, acting as a role model to junior.

Main duties of the job

Demonstrate clinical knowledge and expertise at the level of advanced practice relevant to the role.

Work Autonomously to assess, diagnose and treat minor injuries / minor illness in accordance with current clinical guidelines, best practice within scope of practice

Refer to appropriate specialties for follow up or admission as relevant.

Will be able to prescribe and review medication for therapeutic effectiveness, appropriate to patient needs in accordance with national and local guidelines, and within scope of practice

Work with patients in order to support compliance with and adherence to prescribed treatments

Ensures the use of evidence based care in the delivery of care

Maintain effective communication links within the department, with other health care professional and members of the multi-disciplinary

Communicate highly complex, sensitive or contentious condition related information to ensure patients are fully informed and consent to treatment

Act as an advocate for patients and colleagues

Analyse and compare highly complex facts and situations and be able to convey that analysis at all levels within the organisation and beyond.
