Job summary
We are looking for a Senior Cardiac Physiologist to work as part of our multidisciplinary team assisting the Senior Chief and Principal Cardiac Physiologists to ensure the provision of high quality cardiac services and assisting with the day to day supervision of staff. The role will involve:-
- Specialist in Devices
- Takes responsibility for medical staff training in Devices.
- Provide managerial support to the Principal Cardiac Physiologist and Senior Chief Cardiac Physiologist (Devices)
- Takes responsibility for junior staff in the absence of senior staff.
- Provides clinical expertise in a broad range of investigations/procedures
- Takes an active role in the education, training and development of all junior staff, working closely with the training lead. Ensures training continues in absence of training lead.
THIS IS A FIXED TERM ROLE FOR 12 MONTHS
Main duties of the job
In your role you will demonstrates competence in the full range of cardiac investigations carried out by the department including supervision and training of staff of all levels from cardiographers and nurses to cardiology registrars, consultants and GP's, provide mentorship to the clinicians and maintain records of clinicians who are training, the number of follow ups or implants, and any feedback given etc.
Your role will involve highlighting areas of non-compliance with the training scheme or areas of concern with reporting standards to the Senior Chief and Lead Clinicians, highlighting requirements of the service as it develops and help the other senior staff to develop the service to for fill these needs and performing an extensive range of cardiac investigations and procedures including Tachy, Brady and ILR device Follow ups, Brady, Tachy and ILR device implants, interpretation and comprehensive report writing.
You will exercise tolerance testing, including supervision of patients undergoing 'physiologist led' exercise tests, be able to carry out investigations unsupervised seeking advice of senior members of staff when appropriate, ensure own professional regulatory and accreditation requirements are maintained and have the ability to respond to cardiac arrests including performing defibrillation
