Job summary
Do you have great typing skills, being fast and accurate and able to audio type then our T&O department is looking for you!
Your role will be responsible for typing clinic letters, reports and other clinical correspondence in line with the Trust's contractual key performance indicators (KPIs), provide a high-quality clinical typing service to a team of consultants supporting the Divisional Patient Pathway Coordinators.
Using your fast and accurate audio typing skills and a sound knowledge of medical terminology you will work as part of a team providing cover for colleagues during sickness and annual leave where appropriate which may include providing typing support in other departments.
You will provide an effective and efficient medical typing service to Consultant and junior medical staff. Other duties include incoming and outgoing and general office administrative duties. The post holder will be required to work as part of a team and have a flexible attitude to work and provide cover during periods of staff absence.

Main duties of the job
Assist in the provision of a comprehensive typing and secretarial service within the department including typing clinical and general correspondence, opening the mail, answering the telephone, etc to support team members.
Comprehensive use of in-house patient information systems to check information on patients, outpatient appointments and results.
Input data into a computerised patient database systems and access them to enquire of patients details.
Filing letters and reports into patient medical notes.
Electronically track patients notes in and out of the department/area.
Prioritise workload in conjunction with the team and line manager.
Provide cover for absent colleagues within the secretariat during annual leave and unplanned absences if the need arises.
Contribute to a health and safe working environment by adhering to health and safety regulations and Trust policies.
Any other duties appropriate to the grade of this post.
