Job summary
To support the workforce across the partnership, clinically teaching learners pre and post registration. This is an exciting pilot which would see Midwives spending a 'legacy' period, supervising, supporting and handing over their career insights to students, following significant experiences in midwifery. The role will be supporting students in Acute/Community Trusts, using a model based on the Collaborative Learning in Practice (CLiP). The role of the Legacy Midwife also ensures collaboration with Education Leads and Universities across Mid & South Essex partnership to increase placement capacity across health and social care. The role provides an opportunity to transfer skills and expertise to others and inspire the next generation of midwives.
Successful pilot of this role will support the ambition that this post can become a dedicated role within organisations so that experienced Midwives have the opportunity to feel a sense of achievement with imparting their skills & knowledge to others. The role will require a degree of flexibility and creativity and the post-holder will be required to occasionally work from home using technology.

Legacy Midwifery Responsibilities
- Inspiring and promoting the nursing and midwifery profession across Mid and South Essex.
- Will undertake clinical education with their students and learners face to face/virtually and deliver presentations as appropriate.
- Be able to present complex and sensitive information to a variety of students with differing needs.

As independent practitioners they work alongside the multidisciplinary team to provide individualised holistic care in all settings both in the community and hospital environments.
