Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Hospital Out Of Hours team for a 10 month secondment.
You will operate as part of a team that co-ordinates the care of patients in hospital through receiving calls, triaging and offering appropriate clinical advice and then allocating 'tasks' to the medical on-call team and surgical specialities. This role operates at night for 365 days a year and will include weekend and bank holiday day cover.
The HOOH co-ordinator is responsible for ensuring timely and appropriate care through co-ordinating the workload of the multidisciplinary team, ensuring the correct task is allocated to the appropriate grade and completed in a timescale that ensures optimal and effective delivery of care.
We are looking for an experienced nurse who is highly motivated and who has a commitment to the delivery of high quality and safe care to our patients. You will be organised and able to prioritise your workload. You should be able to communicate effectively with all staff at all levels of the organisation and have excellent leadership skills.

Main duties of the job
To provide senior leadership, professional advice and clinical expertise to clinical teams and areas out of hours.
To prioritise and refer individuals for further assessment and care out of hours.
To be an effective member of the hospital at Night team, coordinating activities to ensure appropriate and timely care for acutely unwell patients.
To support the safe delivery of clinical practice and guidance to ward and department. The post holder will support and implement practise to ensure a high standard and safe level of patient care is achieved.
The post holder carries continuing responsibility for the provision and development of this new specialist service within Mid Essex Hospitals Trust, which ensures the safe and effective allocation of clinical response to requests out of hours and delivery of specialist advice and support to the trust's clinical areas.
Provide advice, clinical review and quality leadership to help prevent acute deterioration thus reducing hospital length of stay.
Identify and undertake initiatives to improve quality of patient care; develop the service and meet the requirements of current standards/legislation.
