Job summary
Our Cardiology Heart Failure Team have a fantastic opportunity for a PCI Nurse Specialist to join its friendly and supportive team to work alongside the ECTC Catheter Lab Manager and Consultant Interventional Physicians to ensure these groups of patients receives seamless, appropriate and safe care throughout their journey.
You will be expected to manage a caseload of high-risk patients who have undergone PCI in the setting of acute coronary syndrome (ACS), and elective patients undergoing complex percutaneous coronary procedures, ensuring continuity and a high standard of evidence-based care, from point of assessment through to PCI treatment, medical management, discharge and personalised follow up.
Main duties of the job
As our PCI Nurse Specialist you will work autonomously and manage your own caseload of patients, whilst working as part of the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring continuity and a high standard of evidenced based care, from point of assessment through to treatment, management, discharge from hospital and follow-up in outpatients clinic.
Your role is to facilitate criteria led discharge on suitable patients (either elective or emergency), using your clinical skills, a set discharge criteria and ensure they have a plan of ongoing care. The liaise with teams across Essex to ensure appropriate follow up is provided to these patients in turn improving the flow of patients requiring treatment.
You will be required to provide nursing leadership, effectively manage and be responsible for patient activity of patients requiring percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and to help coordinate and manage the percutaneous coronary intervention service under the directions of the band 7 PCI Clinical Nurse Specialist.
