Job summary
We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Nurses to join our Day Stay Unit B448 ( DSU) and the Theatre Admission Unit A301 (TADSU)
There is two full time post available within The Day Stay Unit B448, which is located in the South wing of Broomfield Hospital. We are a self-contained unit with three Theatres and a recovery adjacent to an 11 bedded step-down recovery area.
The successful candidate will be expected to complete Band 5 ward-based competencies relevant to the surgical patient pathway undertaking a nurse led admission and discharge role. There will be an opportunity to complete Theatre based competencies, to enable the candidate to work across both the ward and Theatre areas within the self-contained department.
There is one full time post available on The Theatre Admission and Day Unit A301 which is located within Main Theatre. The successful candidate for TASDU will be expected to complete Band 5 ward competencies relevant to the surgical patient pathway. undertaking a nurse led admission and discharge role.
TADSU and DSU are friendly, busy and dynamic departments that operate Monday to Friday 07:00-21:30, 5 days a week, excluding Public Holidays.
We provide high quality safe & effective care to all our patients undergoing day surgery across specialties.
A willingness to work across the areas is essential as well as flexibility to work within the department shift patterns.
Main duties of the job
Undertakes Band 5 Competency Framework for Ward/Theatre areas.
Undertakes ISO generic equipment and service specific equipment competencies
Collaborates and communicates with all members of the health care team to ensure safe high quality patient care.
Plan and prepare equipment according to patients needs and procedures
Implement and evaluate care plans as appropriate to surgical requirement and patient's condition.
Monitor and assess patient's condition, responding to changes in condition, proposing / making changes to care plan as required
To be aware of the management of drugs and to adhere to local policies and administer drugs as prescribed
