Are you a dedicated, dynamic Band 6 looking for an opportunity to advance your career the we have a wonderful opportunity to become an Acting Band 7 Senior Charge Nurse on William Harvey Ward. (8 months maternity cover)
In this role you will be required to lead and develop a team of staff, promoting the development of advanced nursing and teaching skills within the ward, ensuring the team is dedicated to delivering excellent standards of care, throughout the patient's journey.
You will need to be visionary and dynamic in driving the team forward in a rapid changing environment, be required to liaise closely with other departments within the Trust. be able to carry 24-hour overall responsibility for the clinical area and participate in the management of the hospital in accordance with the Trust's Duty Coordinator policy.
In your role you will act as an effective leader both professionally and managerially for all members of nursing staff, being responsible for and manage the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of care of our patients, in conjunction with the unit's aims, objectives and philosophy.
Maintaining and developing high standards of care, whilst planning and implementing ward based and directorate teaching programs, assessing the training needs of nursing staff in conjunction with the Practice Education Facilitator Team.
Main duties of the job
Your role will be to develop all staff to communicate effectively with members of the multi-disciplinary team, patients and families, ensuring that governance reports are completed and submitted in a timely manner and be responsible for organization of team meetings to discuss governance issues and shared learning in the division.
It will be your responsibility for the overall management of the ward and to be a point of contact for all ward staff as necessary, participating in policy and service development by working alongside the divisional governance and operational team ensuring that all policies and protocols in the ward are current, suitable and safe to provide care and services to our service users.
In conjunction with the Matron you will take financial responsibility for skill mix and buying in temporary staff, including responsibility for e-rostering for permanent staff and authorisation of temporary staff and plan duty rotas to ensure the most effective utilisation of nursing time. Coordinate annual leave entitlement. Effectively manage skill mix within ward staffing budget.
