Fixed Term to Cover Maternity Leave -Full Time (37.5 hours)Therapy Services, Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford

An opportunity has arisen due to current post holder going off on Maternity leave within our Trust for a band 7 Advanced Occupational Therapist within our Trauma and Orthopedic Service.

We are looking for an passionate and highly motivated clinical advanced Occupational Therapist to provide timely rehabilitation for patients following Orthopedic Surgery/Management . The successful candidate will have the opportunity to provide Occupational Therapy interventions throughout the patient's admission which will be a key part of directing their safe discharge.

Main duties of the job

You will be overseeing a Team of occupational therapists who will be under your leadership whilst working across the 2 Acute Orthopaedic wards and any other Outlying cases.

The post requires the successful candidate to provide clinical and developmental leadership to the occupational therapy team, working closely as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team. As well as the expectation to lead service developments, the candidate will need to have a strong vision and direction for the service and be able to develop and support junior staff in this clinical field. You will have significant post graduate experience within the acute and rehabilitation setting. Previous experience within the specific clinical specialty is desirable.

The wards are busy and require someone who is willing to undertake both complex rehabilitation Acute setting and support a fast-paced clinical decision making on the acute wards.

Part of the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, Broomfield Hospital Therapy Services is a friendly and supportive department with a high profile within the Trust. There is a strong focus on professional and personal development and a commitment to regular clinical supervision for all staff, as well as annual appraisal.

The successful candidate will be encouraged and supported to develop your clinical and leadership skills as part of this role within our very friendly team. Working closely with the Lead Therapist and other band 7s you will help drive service improvements. There are opportunities to contribute to Occupational Therapy student education through our links with Essex University.

Modern healthcare delivery requires a 7-day service and therefore being part of the rostered weekend and public holiday working will be an expected part of the role.
