Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated, team player with good communication skills to join our well-established Critical Care Technology team at Broomfield Hospital, where you will have a great chance to develop your skills, knowledge and experience in critical care, and enhance the role as an integral part of the critical care MDT providing critical care for patients in Chelmsford and the surrounding areas. It is essential that you have a high technical ability and relevant work experience in an acute hospital environment, however we will develop and train you to a higher level and enhance your current knowledge / skills allowing you to develop into this rewarding technical support role.
This role is for Band 6 technologists, however if you do not meet the required criteria but show transferable skills and strong potential, you may be considered to take up this position as a training and development Band 5 role, with responsibilities adjusted accordingly then once you complete our competency-based training programme successfully you will progress to a permanent Band 6.
Main duties of the job
Our Critical Care Scientists (CCS's) are specially trained healthcare scientists who work collaboratively as part of a multi-professional team providing scientific expertise and knowledge of the physiology and technology involved in the delivery of care to critically ill patients being multi-skilled and adaptable with wide ranging functions that assist in the provision of high-quality care.
As our CCS you will support advanced clinical practice, development of clinical services and adoption of new technologies in response to scientific innovations, undertake scientific and clinical roles, including working directly with patients and providing advice to medical, nursing and other staff in the critical care setting about the safe and effective use of medical devices.
Your role is to provide specialist advice and expertise on all aspects of critical care technology., promote the culture of safe and effective use of technological systems for the benefit and care of critically ill patients and maintain effective communication with patients, fellow healthcare professionals, suppliers and engineers to ensure seamless and evolving service delivery.
Your main duties will include equipment management, providing training and development, responsibility for point of care testing (POCT) and participating in the transfer of critically ill patients.
