Job summary
Our Endocrine Service is seeking a reliable, enthusiastic person to join its busy, friendly, supportive team as a Patient Pathway Officer based in our own purpose built unt.We are looking for excellent communicators, who are able to demonstrate and promote high levels of customer care, who have experience in using the following hospital administration systems, which is preferred but training can be given -
- ACP
- EPR
- eDerma
- Bighand
To deliver an efficient and effective appointment scheduling and outcome service to the Endocrine team, keeping up-to-date and accurate computer recorded information on the status of patients. Support the Senior Patient Pathway Co-ordinator, Patient Pathway Co-ordinators, clinical team, and other divisional managers in ensuring the speciality are able to deliver safe and effective services whilst also ensuring compliance with contractual access targets e.g. 6 week diagnostic wait time.
Main duties of the job
Your role will involve interpreting the clinical information from test requests according to protocol, taking responsibility for booking appropriate appointments, communicating rejection of inappropriate requests to requesting Consultants according to published guidance and to monitor demand and wait times, identify potential breaches and escalate to Senior Patient Pathway Co-ordinator. You will action appointments, entering details onto EPR as required, using initiative to ensure appointments meet diagnostic targets, ensure that patients have the correct verbal and written information regarding their tests and appointment date, advise patients, within sphere of knowledge and according to protocol, about the type of procedure and monitor and action DNA according to local and Trust protocol. Courteously and efficiently, you will receive telephone enquiries from patients, carers and external agencies in relation to appointments ensuring that accurate records are maintained and appropriate action is taken in a timely manner.
