Are you a registered Nursing Associate or due to qualify within 3 months?

If so the Children's Ward 30 and Children's Urgent Care are recruiting and would love to hear from you.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Nursing Associate to join our Children's Services team.

We provide a bespoke and comprehensive training and education package.

Main duties of the job

Children's Inpatient Unit (Ward 30)

Ward 30 is a Children's Inpatient Unit that was purpose built in 2016. The unit includes 35 inpatient beds and a two-bedded stabilisation area. The ward has an adolescent room, school room, play room and sensory room. The ward cares for a diverse population of patients including medical, surgical and those with medical complexities.

Children's Urgent Care

The Children's Emergency Department (ED), Children's Clinical Decisions Area (CCDA) and Short Stay became one unit in November 2023.

Children's ED is a busy department who currently see large volumes of children every year in an area specifically dedicated to children. Children who are attending with urgent care complaints are streamed straight to this area.

CCDA sees children referred from GPs, children with direct access and children sent from ED requiring a further assessment. The short stay area is for children who require a prolonged period of observation but who are unlikely to need a full admission to hospital, this could include fluid challenges, spacing of inhalers and review by other specialities.

A team of clinical skills educators will be on hand with a supportive and robust training package across both inpatients and urgent care.
