We are excited to offer a rare opportunity for motivated individuals to train to become a Senior Therapy Assistants within our Community Stroke rehabilitation team and in a range of in-patient therapy teams, including orthopaedics, respiratory and medicine. We are looking for someone with experience of health and social care, who can work independently within scope, using their own initiative, with excellent communication and organisational skills, who is looking to further develop their skills in rehabilitation.
This is a fixed term, apprenticeship post. The post holder/s will be required to undertake a level 3 apprenticeship as part of this position, during which you will learn all the skills needed to become a Senior Therapy Assistant.
Candidates with existing degrees in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy are not eligible to apply.
You will work as part of a supportive, forward-thinking multidisciplinary teams, delivering high quality rehabilitation.
The academic component is supported by Keighley College.
Main duties of the job
New to the NHS: If you are joining the NHS for the first time, you will be paid at the Apprentice Rate, which is currently £7.55 per hour (from April 2025) for the first year of your apprenticeship. After the first year, you will be paid the age-related National Minimum Wage for the remainder of your fixed-term contract.
Existing NHS Employees: If you already have NHS experience, your pay will be determined in accordance with Annex 21 of the Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions. This means you will receive a percentage of the relevant pay band for the role, reflective of your current qualifications and experience.
- The jobholder will be employed in a 2-year apprenticeship within the Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (BTHFT).
- Academic study will make up 20%, this can be undertaken in person or virtually. The remaining 80% will be spent in the workplace. During the apprenticeship the post holder will perform all of the elements in this job description as a learner and under the direct and/or indirect supervision of a registered practitioner
- A clean British driving licence is essential as is access to a car with business class insurance (reasonable adjustments will be made as needed).
- There may be a requirement for the post holder to work flexibly in other areas as required, including different hospital sites and community settings including domiciliary visits. The post may involve working across 7 days, including weekends and bank holidays.
