An exciting opportunity for a locum Neonatal Consultant post, applicants both full and part time considered.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will manage and take overall responsibility for the health care for a proportion of all babies delivered in Bradford and needing admission to the neonatal unit or transitional care. The postholder will participate in an on call rota, on a 1 in 7 basis. Service periods will usually be a week at a time, and will be shared between consultants.

Outpatient services will be provided to all babies allocated to the care of the postholder. These outpatient clinics will not be held when the postholder is on service.

The postholder will provide and supervise general neonatal care to those well infants who are cared for on postnatal wards, and collaborate with other disciplines to continue to enhance the services provided.

Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of completing a period of approved training in Neonatology or equivalent experience

Qualifications

Essential

  • MBChB or equivalent.
  • MRCPCH (UK) or equivalent.

  • Ability to perform the requirements of the post
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Commitment to working cooperatively and collaboratively with other health professionals and organisations
  • Ability to work effectively in multi-professional teams
  • Outpatient experience in the management of graduates from neonatal care and those with medical problems consequent from congenital anomalies
  • Experience of antenatal diagnosis and investigation of "at risk" pregnancies, working in a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of developing services through research, audit or literature review

Desirable

  • NLS instructor
  • Research experience, leading to presentations of findings at learned societies or publication in peer reviewed journals
  • Formal training and experience in developmental assessment
