We have an exciting opportunity for two qualitative researchers to join our Born in Bradford (BiB) team, contributing to our diverse and innovative portfolio of research.

The posts holder will work alongside BiB teams based across the Bradford Institute for Health Research in a supporting role across several different research projects, including Healthy Urban Places and Age of Wonder: Teenage Stories. You will be involved and responsible for the qualitative elements of these studies, from planning and management to data collection, analysis and dissemination.

Main duties of the job

The post holders will also support the Bradford Centre for Qualitative Research (BCQR). Through BCQR we aim to raise the profile of qualitative research at Born in Bradford, build capacity and opportunity for qualitative research within BiB, and secure grant funding to conduct community-driven, high impact research. You will support the delivery team of BCQR, including planning and organising, training, capacity building, networking and communications.

We are looking foran enthusiastic, flexible and skilled qualitative research fellows to come and work on projects whose findings will have a real impact on improving the health and wellbeing of people in Bradford and beyond.

  • A degree or professional qualification* in a health/ social sciences related subject

Desirable

  • Educated to Masters level* in a health/ social sciences related subject with a research methods component

Experience

  • Significant experience in applied public health or other related subject
  • Experience of conducting academic research within area of public health or other related subject
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary team working
  • Experience of working with a range of community organisations and professional stakeholders e.g. local authorities in a research context
  • Experience of collecting and analysing qualitative data and use of qualitative analytical packages
  • Experience of questionnaire development and piloting
  • Experience of obtaining NHS ethics approval for research

Desirable

  • Experience of co-ordinating data collection within a community environment
  • Experience of conducting citizen science or participatory research activities with children, families and communities
