Job summary
This is a local Trust appointment to a vacant training post. Whether this is counted towards training for the successful applicant would depend upon their suitability and approval from the Regional Advisor. Applicants who would like this appointment to count towards training should indicate this.
The post holder will be fully involved with the provision of anaesthetic services in the operating theatres and Intensive Care unit and resuscitation. They will provide a pre and post-operative service for patients. The post holder, depending on their level of experience, provides out of hours cover for acute / emergency theatre work or ICU or Obstetric Anaesthesia. Work patterns follow a compliant full shift system. There are at least 3 resident CT1 / CT2 / ST1-4 and 1 ST5-7 Anaesthetic staff in the hospital at all times.
Main duties of the job
To participate in the management of the Department, ensuring that appropriate deputising arrangement are made and supervising the day-to-day clinical work of the CT's and FY2's in the department.
Committed to maintaining a high standard of note-keeping and communication with General Practitioners. He/she will be involved in preparing information for entry onto the Electronic patient Record.
In preparing Discharge Summaries of patient's under the care of the consultant for whom he/she is working at the time.
Any other duties commensurate with the grade which may be allocated from time to time.
Undertake pre-operative assessment and obtain consent for procedures
