The successful candidate will assist qualified nursing staff and consultants to deliver direct/indirect quality clinical care to patients undergoing procedures within the specialty of Renal Medicine Working without direct supervision but within defined limits and competence for the post using own initiative.

Assessment, delivery and recording of direct and indirect care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic renal procedures as delegated by registered nurse/consultant.

Contribute to care of patients in transition from one care setting to another. Work within defined limits and competence whilst using own initiative with remote supervision by the sister or other registered nurse.

Main duties of the job

To provide an effective and high-quality service, undertaking a range of clinical procedures. A requirement to have a knowledge of how to deal with related nonroutine activities.

Able to work without direct supervision, and be an excellent communicator, with the ability to support the team. Will assist with the training of patients who will potentially be dialysing at their home.

Trainee Renal Support Worker; Any candidate appointed with NVQ /Diploma Level 3 in Health & Social Care/ Clinical Healthcare and Support Work will be appointed on a training contract and paid on 75% of the top of Band 3, in accordance with Annex 21 of the Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions of Employment. There will be an expectation to complete the required renal training within a 6-8-month period. Part of this training will involve the attainment of the Care Certificate unless the candidate has evidence that this has already been attained.
