We are delighted to announce that we have secured funding to develop our stroke pathway. This is an exciting opportunity for motivated, driven individuals to join our Stroke rehabilitation team as a Senior Therapy Assistant.
The successful candidates will work as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team delivering high quality rehabilitation across the pathway. The role of the Therapy assistant is to work alongside a team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and other therapy assistants, supporting delivery of highly effective therapy interventions for patients.
Roles will be based in either the inpatient setting at Bradford Royal Infirmary covering both acute stroke and stroke/neurology rehabilitation wards, or in community setting working in a mixture of settings including outpatient clinics, gym and patients' homes.
The successful applicant will be enthusiastic about working in a team delivering excellent patient care, will have experience in health or social care, an interest in the area of Stroke rehabilitation and a commitment to personal development.
They will be supported by a team of therapists to develop their existing clinical skills, through comprehensive shadowing, competency assessment and training programmes. They will have regular supervision to support and develop clinical reasoning to become competent practitioners taking responsibility for a caseload delegated to them by the qualified therapists.
Main duties of the job
To deliver a high standard of health care supporting both Occupational therapists and Physiotherapists, together with the wider MDT, to assess, plan and implement a range of therapeutic interventions to improve the physical, cognitive and functional ability, mood and well-being of patients.
The right candidate will have experience in working in health and/or social care settings and have an awareness of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy. The post holder will have excellent communication skills and can work effectively as part of a MDT.
To manage a delegated caseload delivering physiotherapy and occupational therapy independently treatment goals independently and with guidance evaluating and adapting interventions.
There will be additional generic duties as directed by the wider MDT.
To facilitate safe and timely interventions.
To manage and prioritise own caseload delegated by qualified therapists / MDT.
To contribute to team and service development.
To contribute to training and support to other team members and students.
The post holder may need to work flexibly in other areas as required and may involve working across 7 days.
