Anopportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated registered nurse with significant post registration experience in Upper GI/ HPB cancer or cancer services to lead the Upper GI and HPB clinical nurse specialist service at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The trust is one of 2 specialist tertiary centres for Oesophago-Gastric cancer surgery in West Yorkshire and the post holder will participate in and oversee the provision of nursing services within UGI and HPB cancer services.

The post holder will have responsibility for the management of the Upper GI/ HPB cancer Nurse Specialist team working in conjunction with professionals from Upper GI surgery, Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Oncology.

As a core member of the multi-disciplinary team, you will provide, whilst managing a defined caseload, advanced nursing expertise/interventions to our patients with Upper GI and HPB cancers, enhancing the quality of life for patients/carers with a suspicion or diagnosis of Upper GI and HPB cancers, including complex physical, and emotional needs.

Main duties of the job

The Upper GI Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist (Lead CNS) holds a leadership role within the Trust integral to the provision of a high-quality service for patients referred to the UGI/ HPB cancer service. The Lead UGI CNS will be a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) within the Surgery & Digestive Diseases Clinical services unit, with additional responsibility for line management and professional leadership of the Upper GI/ HPB Clinical Nurse Specialists.

The post holder will participate in and oversee the provision of nursing services within UGI and HPB cancer services with support from the Clinical Lead and Lead Cancer Nurse.
